Change rules for merging

When we merge companies the latest information can overwrite the correct information, say we have a custom field called “customer status” and the options are “lead, SQL, customer, churned customer”. I can merge 2 companies and the data “customer” gets overwritten by “lead” if we have duplicates of the same company.

This makes managing duplicates much more annoying because it messes up the workflows we have created in regard to customer status.

Would be great if we could set our own rules when i comes to merging.

I would be great to require email + phone number for merging contacts. In insurance there can be multiple people sharing the same email address but they have a unique cell phone number.
