Hi, just wondering how to change the default contact owner for new emails that come in and create a contact automatically. Currently the first name setup on the account becomes the owner of any emails that come in and auto generate a contact. Thanks
Hi @Ws4u ,
Thank you for reaching out to the HubSpot Community.
I’d recommend checking out these knowledge base articles to identify how the contact owner is assigned now:
If you’re using workflow, you will want to change its setting and assign other user as an owner. If “Sync ownership” feature is enabled you will want to turn this feature off and consider how you want to assign owner moving forward.
I have the exact same question. Each new contact that is created on our Hubspot is automatically assigned to a user that is now deleted, I can’t find where I can stop this.
Check if Contact Owner is automatically set to sync with Company Owner by default.
Thank you for reaching out! have you tried to follow the articles Natsumi has shared?
Best
Sharon
yes, this post does not answer my question unfortunately
Hi did you manage to find a way to fix this? I have new contacts being created through the embedded form in our website and they all get assigned to a staff member who’s name starts with A so assuming it is just taking the first name from the list of users in alphabetical order. I want to set it as a hidden field set to No Owner or Unassigned so that we can filter contacts using this and assign them.
Yes I did, the problem was that I still had several companies that were assigned to a former employee at www.novable.com and as I had a sync between companies and accounts, when capturing new leads from a company that was assigned to that former employee, the contacts were assigned the same way automatically. I solved it by cleaning up the companies ownership. Hope this helps.
