We are using advanced lead rotation where we assign leads to owners as soon as they submit a form and present the contact owner’s calendar after.
The short time between form submission and us showing the calendar of assigned sales reps - we have a rule-based lead routing that we want to expand further like sending leads from SERPS to a specific team.
Basically, we want to capture the lead source at a form level - for leads that come into our site with UTM codes, we already have hidden fields that are able to capture the source, campaign, medium, etc. Our problem figuring out which leads came from SEO and having a form field capture that information before sending to HubSpot.
Hey @jettzter_xiii what are you capturing in your UTM fields? What additional data specifically would you be looking for that’s not captured in your UTM fields?
Realistically the only way to capture this source data would be through the UTM fields, if the data isn’t there there’s no real way to make it up. I haven’t heard of a source like “SEO” not being captured here though, you should see come through as something like utm_medium=organic
Thanks for responding - I tried going to our company page through SERP and there were no UTM parameters on the URL. I know HubSpot can send additional information along with the form submission like the IP country code if you check the data values (via JS) on the form submission but not sure if the lead source is included.
It’s not unfortunately, the source information comes from the UTM parameters. The IP address just shows the network address that connects to the site, so they can determine where that address is connecting from to determine IP country, the network wouldn’t give any information on the visotor behaviour though.
Tools like Attributer.io might be able to help here.
They write the lead source data (like the fact a lead came from Organic Search, Paid Search, etc) into hidden fields on the form before it is submitted, which ultimately means it would be captured on the contact record instantly (and therefore you could use it to power your routing).
They have an article outlining how it works here: The best way to track the source of your leads in Hubspot - Attributer
