Cannot edit content in modules

Hi guys.

I have copied a theme and some templates/modules from a production account to a sandbox account so that I can do some further development in a test environment.

However, when I add any of the modules to my page, in the page editor I get the message ‘The creator of this template prevented editing this module in the content editors.’
There’s no setting to enable editing under Editor options in the module settings, and no other way I can see of making any changes here. On the production account everything works fine.
I’ve tried cloning the modules and I still get the same issue. Does anyone know how I can resolve this?
many thanks

@NickPrice - when you say ‘copied’ do you mean you created a child theme that references the locked modules? If the modules relate to a marketplace theme, then thi is the only method that will supoort cloning and editing.

Hey Steve

I created the theme from the boilerplate theme using the Hubspot CLI. Then I uploaded it to the sandbox account also using the CLI.

Thanks

Your best practice here is to create a child of the HubSpot master theme (which is essentially read only) and clone any modules you wish to modify into that child theme (all other modules and code will simply be references to the master theme files). You will find everything works as expoected across production and sandbox instances.

Hope this helps,

Steve

Hi Steve. Creating a new theme using the boilerplate as a base is the recommended hubspot way of creating a theme from scratch. The modules I’m using I’ve built from scratch, they aren’t clones or copies of existing hubspot modules. I’m able to use them without issue in the account in which I created them, but when uploaded to the sandbox account it says the creator (who is myself) hasn’t allowed editing of the modules. I’m just trying to ascertain where this setting is. thanks
