I’m new to Hubspot (since Monday) and like what I’ve seen so far.
One issue I have is that as a freelancer I use my email for personal as well as business messaging, and having switched on Gmail integration I find Hubspot is absorbing every new email I send and adding the recipients to contacts.
Is there a setting I can tweak for this? So I can maybe hit a button in Gmail that says ‘sync this one’ but the default is not to sync? I can’t imagine my mother wanting to be part of anyh sales sequence but at the moment it looks as though Hubspot’s going to record her details anyway!
Many thanks
These will default to the last setting that you used. e.g. Above, both are set on, if I turn them off when I send this email, the next email I send will have these set off.
Many thanks Trevor. That covers working within Hubspot; what I’m finding is that when I’m on Gmail’s own site, because I’ve set up the sync, Hubspot is keeping a copy of the emails and recording the contact. Ideally I’d like to record correspondence with actual customers within Hubspot and the rest (I’m a journalist so I get a lot of pitched press releases for example) I wouldn’t want to keep.
If there’s a way of achieving this without deactivating the integration completely and recording sales info manually (which is an option but the exact opposite of why I started using Hubspot) I’d be interested to know.
The screenshot I did was actually from Gmail. If you’re not seing those two options, then it’s likely that the sales extension isn’t firing properly. It may be worth going into your extension settings in Chrome, disabling the HubSpot sales extension and then re-enabling it.
