campaign planing

Want to know how to run a powerful B2B marketing campaign that covers the entire funnel?
I’m going to work on a marketing campaign for a B2B business that provides services like websites, e-commerce platforms, and app development. My goal is to design a campaign that covers the full funnel—from awareness at the top, to conversion at the bottom.
The challenge is, I don’t yet have a clear roadmap for B2B marketing campaigns. That’s why I’m reaching out for insights.
:backhand_index_pointing_right: Can you share a step-by-step plan and ideas for structuring such a campaign?
:backhand_index_pointing_right: I’m also planning to run paid ads—which platforms would be the most effective, and how should I plan the budget?
Your advice will not only help me, but also be valuable to many others who want to learn how to run successful B2B marketing campaigns.
Thank you in advance :folded_hands:

Hi @Nushaif,

This is a great question to leverage generative AI for:

A strong B2B marketing campaign starts with building awareness around your expertise and credibility. At the top of the funnel, the goal is to educate and attract the right audience. For a business offering websites, e-commerce platforms, and app development, this could mean publishing thought leadership content that speaks directly to the pain points of decision-makers – such as CTOs, CMOs, or founders. Blog posts, webinars, and downloadable guides around topics like “how to scale e-commerce platforms” or “the ROI of custom app development” can draw attention. At this stage, paid ads should focus on platforms where business audiences spend time, such as LinkedIn and Google Search, since they allow precise targeting based on roles, industries, and intent.

In the middle of the funnel, once you’ve captured initial interest, the priority shifts to nurturing leads with more tailored and trust-building content. This is where case studies, email sequences, and comparison guides play a critical role. Showcasing real client success stories and highlighting measurable results – like increased sales from a redesigned e-commerce site – helps potential clients visualize outcomes. Retargeting ads across LinkedIn, Google Display, and even YouTube can reinforce your messaging, ensuring your brand stays visible as prospects evaluate options.

At the bottom of the funnel, the campaign should make it easy for prospects to take the next step. This could mean offering free consultations, product demos, or detailed project proposals. Personalization matters here: follow up with prospects individually, reference their unique business needs, and outline clear value propositions. Paid ad spend at this stage can be focused on remarketing campaigns and branded search ads, since these audiences already have high intent. Your sales team should work hand in hand with marketing to ensure seamless conversion from interest to signed deal.

When it comes to budget, it’s wise to allocate more spend to awareness in the early stages but maintain consistent investment in retargeting and bottom-funnel ads. A typical approach might be 50% to top-funnel (content promotion, awareness ads), 30% to middle-funnel (retargeting, case study promotion), and 20% to bottom-funnel (direct response ads and branded search). LinkedIn is highly effective for B2B, though it can be expensive, so balancing it with Google Search (to capture active intent) and a mix of retargeting channels will help you maximize ROI. Over time, keep refining the budget split based on performance data.

Hope this helps!

Hey there @Nushaif - great (and very big) question. I love that @karstenkoehler is thinking of generative AI for this. That was my thought, too. It’s such a big question, and the answer will depend on where you are in your own marketing career journey.

For instance, for the campaign and your career, have you analyzed the market? An important early step is to conduct thorough market and competitor analysis; identify buyer pain points and unique value propositions. From there you’d set goals.

Once done, it would make sense to set your target audience with detailed ICP and personas to tailor your messaging. And of course we can’t forget traditional funnel and lead path set up (even though we’re now in HubSpot’s Loop era).

The next few steps may vary based on your strategy, but typically it would be:

Content and Channel Strategy

  • Plan content for each funnel stage, aligning it with buyer intent.
  • Use a mix of inbound (SEO, blog, email) and outbound channels (paid ads, social, events).

Deploy Paid Ads

  • Awareness: Google Display Network and LinkedIn Sponsored Content.
  • Consideration/Decision: LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms, Google Search ads, retargeting.

And of course, you’d probably go into the “Measure, Optimize, and Report” step next." Track performance with KPIs (conversion rate, engagement, CTR), and review analytics regularly so you can iterate on strategy as needed.

Structuring for HubSpot:

  • Map each funnel stage to HubSpot properties (lead status, lifecycle stage).
  • Automate nurture sequences (email, remarketing) with HubSpot workflows for each stage.
  • Use HubSpot forms or native integrations for lead capture via paid platforms.

One last link you probably would do well to bookmark is the actual HubSpot Campaigns resource here.

I hope that helps!
