Is there a way to do a bulk add/remove of associations between a contact and deals?
At the moment it is very manual having to go into each deal individually and removing the contact association.
Is there a way to do a bulk update for this instead?

Hi @Sassika,
It doesn’t see so, unfortunately. While it’s possible to use imports to associate records in bulk, it’s not possible to do the same for removing associations, see here: Associate records
Currently, you would have to work with a developer and use the API to achieve this: Associate records via API
Best regards!
Hi @Sassika,
I believe this is achievable through the API but that would take development resources. Additionally, I believe this may be possible if you subscribe to Operations Hub and build custom-coded solutions. These are a bit more advanced.
Here, here, and here are some community threads that might be helpful in those areas.
Alternatively, Insycle could help here. Full disclosure, I work for Insycle as a product marketer, but it solves this problem directly. You can bulk associate (add/remove/replace) using any field in your database as a matching field. This includes handling the more advanced features, including managing primary associations, labels, and parent-child hierarchies for companies. Additionally, you can insert association activities into your HubSpot workflows.
Hey @Sassika,
Have you tried using Associ8? It can automatically remove associations via workflow.
I’ll leave some documentation for the feature below if you want to see it in action:
- Remove Associations Automatically Using Labels
Let me know if you have any questions!

Hi @Sassika,
Good news, this is now possible through workflows!
New Workflow Actions for Associations
June 18, 2024
What is it?
Admins will be able to automate parts of the association management process through workflows. They will be able to use new association actions within their workflows to help apply, update, or remove association labels and create new associations based on matching property values. We recommend watching the following videos to learn more:
Why does it matter?
Historically, managing associations and their labels was a tedious and manual process. This new functionality allows admins to automate some of those processes while increasing data quality and reducing manual work. As companies scale, it is difficult to continue managing associations manually, especially as their usage of associations and labels increases.
How does it work?
- Admins will be able to add association actions to their workflows to help automate parts of the association and label management processes
- We are introducing 4 new actions in contact, company, deal, ticket, and custom object based workflows :
- Apply labels to already associated records
- Update existing association labels
- Remove existing association labels
- Create new associations between two records that have properties with exact matching values
- Note: This functionality only exists for single-line text, multi-line text, or phone number properties

Our company could use this functionality since we don’t create a company in Hubspot till a contact has an account. We need to mass associate or remove same object associations between contacts. To have this from the Contacts list view specifically would make my life in ops a lot easier. Association via workflows caps at 100 associations at once which leaves a lot of our partner contacts unable to complete the action. It’s not unusual for a partner to have over 100 contact associations.
Hi @Sassika and everyone,
Good news, a dedicated feature is now in private beta. Since it’s been shared publicly on LinkedIn, it can also be shared here. You can find this beta under Settings → Product updates → All → Manage Associations in Bulk. If you’re not seeing it yet, you’ll have to be patient for a bit longer.
Manage Associations in Bulk
What is it?
You can now remove outdated or incorrect associations in bulk from the index page. Select up to 10 records and quickly remove multiple associations at once to keep your CRM data accurate and reliable.
Why does it matter?
CRM record associations can quickly become outdated when contacts change companies, deals shift ownership, or data imports create incorrect relationships. Today, keeping associations current requires time-consuming workflows, developer support, or manual updates one by one. This creates inefficiencies that waste time and spread errors across records, making teams question whether their CRM data is trustworthy.
The new bulk association editor saves time and reduces errors by giving you a fast, straightforward way to inspect and remove incorrect associations in small batches. This helps ensure your CRM remains a reliable and high-quality source of truth for your team.
How does it work?
We’re starting with the most urgent need: removing incorrect associations in bulk. Watch this Loom video to learn more.
- Navigate to any index page
- Select up to 10 records using the checkboxes
- Click Manage Associations
- Review the records’ associations, organized by record type
- Select the associations you want to remove
- Click Dissociate to remove the selected associations in bulk
Who gets it?
This feature is available across all HubSpot products and subscription tiers.
Best regards!
Hi team, the bulk update for associations is now available.
Hope it works for you.
How does this work if there are a long thread of say 30-50 emails associated to the wrong Deal. Is there a way of bulk selecting emails and removing or changing the assciation to the correct Deal? Right now I have click on each email so it opens fully in order to see associations and then manually move each email.
Hello @JLord_AH,
Thanks for adding to this thread here!
This current thread seems to only cover record associations. As for removing associated emails in bulk, I would suggest taking a look at this thread here! https://community.hubspot.com/t5/CRM/Contact-Associations-removing-emails-in-bulk/m-p/1159020#M157984
I hope this helps!
