Hi,
Im trying to analyse what is affecting our company’s bounce rate.
Top reason: Most bounces are due to “Mailbox Issues” (like full inbox, invalid mailbox, or recipient server not accepting emails)-As per its AI anlaysis tool.
Bounce rate breakdown (last 6 months):
Mailbox Issues: 4,523 bounces (main reason)
Content Issues: 633 bounces
Email Address & Domain Issues: 324 bounces
Unclassified: 845 bounces
I would like to analyse whats the reason for our consistent bounce rate as the email content is still strong.
You won’t get a definitive answer as to why emails bounce. You can further poke around in the data and create reports but without access to the email policies and settings on the receiving end, it’ll always be a guessing game.
For recipients with mailbox issues, there’s little you can do. If a recipient’s inbox is at capacity (full) or non-existent, nothing relating to the way you’re doing email marketing can change that. that also applies to email address and domain issues and likely also the unclassified ones, which is typically a catch-all that (I assume) mostly contains email addresses that simply do not exist anymore or email service providers not accepting your emails plainly because they are marketing. The presence of an unsubscribe link and tracking links alone can trigger spam or quarantine filters in some industries.
That leaves the content issues bucket. Here I would recommend further checking what the distribution across email domains is. If these 633 bounces all occurred for a specific email domain, then you know that it’s specific to that provider or company and the only way to find out why they don’t like you would be to reach out to them directly.
If it’s spread evenly across many providers or companies, I’d recommend reviewing individual contacts to check which emails exactly they received - until you discover a pattern.
