Auto-populate form fields

Dear all,

for our emails, we are starting to auto-populate the form fields.

In specific for one of our emails we have a CTA button that redirects to a form on our website.

When I try the test email and then click on the button that redirects me to our website I see that the fields Name, Last Name, and email are pre-populated.

This is the URL for the CTA button:

However, this doesn’t necessarily always work. As an example, for my colleague that got the email the traditional way, and not through the testing tool, the form doesn’t populate the three fields instead it looks like this:

What can be the error? As he is in the Hubspot database and therefore the contact exists for him.

Hi @SIon1,

What exactly does this mean?

Do you mean that you sent / published the marketing email? If so, have you checked whether the contact record of your colleague has values in all of the fields that you’d like to see populated?

Have you previewed the email for this coworker and checked whether the preview works as intended?

Best regards

Hei Karsten,

Yes, so every time someone subscribes to the newsletter one gets this email and this is what my colleague did.

For sure we have the information (first name, last name, and email) of him in Hubspot.

When we do the test email with his contact the field is correctly populated with his FIrsta Name, Last Name and email.

Hi @SIon1,

Have you checked whether the email in their inbox generates the link with the parameters or does it arrive without the parameters?

Not sure I understand it correctly.

- Do you mean the test email or the “regular” one when they subscribe?

- With parameters you mean the ones in the form and therefore the ones when they click on the CTA button of the email?

Hi @SIon1,

Here’s what I understood: You sent / published the email and a coworker received it in their inbox.

The next step in troubleshooting would be to check whether the link was generated correctly in this sent email, either by hovering over the CTA or, after clicking the CTA, checking what exactly displays in the address bar of the browser of the coworker.
