Hi,
I need to know if the public app that I create will follow the rate limit for my account or is it based on each user connecting to my app?
Thanks in advance.
Hi @ASitnikava, I hope you are doing well!
For public OAuth apps, the burst limit is applied per app, per account. So for example, if you have 1 app installed in 5 accounts, your burst limit would be 100 requests per 10 seconds per account.
Documented here as well: OAuth rate limits per account per app or per app.
Hope this helps,
Diana
Good question, @ASitnikava .
As of 2025, the fundamentals of HubSpot API rate limits haven’t changed, but the tooling and best practices around them have improved. For public OAuth apps, the limits are still applied per app, per account, not globally.
So, if your app is installed in five HubSpot portals, each gets its own independent limit of 100 requests per 10 seconds (API usage guidelines and limits - HubSpot docs )
What’s new since 2023 is that HubSpot made Retry-After handling more predictable and expanded the API usage endpoint so you can dynamically monitor your quota and adjust your request pacing in real time
Implementing asynchronous queues or exponential backoff remains the best approach to avoid hitting those 429 responses. If your goal is to sync large datasets between HubSpot and external systems continuously, maintaining near real-time accuracy without hitting those caps, Stacksync handles token rotation, retries, and rate-limit backoff automatically, so your team can focus on business logic instead of traffic management.
