Can anyone confirm for me the level of permissions required when using the Office365 connection/integration? Is all the integration activity permissioned at the individual person level or at a broader level? My cybersecurity team is balking at allowing the integration unless the permissions are only done at the individual level.
Hi, @MRomelfanger
Please have your team refer to the documentation below. The integration can be installed and permissioned either per individual user or centrally deployed and then installed from there.
There are two ways to install the HubSpot Sales Office 365 add-in:
- Install the add-in individually
- Centrally deploy the add-in
- Additionally, here is the app listing
I am going to move this over to the CRM/Sales community in case any community members have additional feedback or experience.
Thank you! — Jaycee

Hey @mxcrm - thanks for following up here!
To clarify, this integration is installed at the individual level, but it does not require a HubSpot-set permission to do so. While there may be permissions within your Company’s IT-provisioned permissions that may prevent individual users from installing the integration, this is not set up HubSpot.

Jaycee,
Thanks for the info on installing the add-in, but I still need to understand the level of permissions required to use it. My assumption is that if each person is installing this individually, then the permissions are at an individual level as well, correct? In other words, if I install the add-in, any and all emails sent using that add-in will always be sent as originating from me and my individual email address, right? Hubspot (the application) cannot send, receive or read emails at a system level, correct?
Hey @JTroup - thank you for clarifying!
Apologies for any oversight in my original reply. I was under the impression we were looking at the basic integration setup, not anything API-specific. I appreciate you providing this context for future use!
