I am opting to add a “Subscribe to our newsletter” in an email body.

What is the thorough process for that?

If you have workflows, the most straightforward option would be:

  1. Create CTA: Create calls-to-action (CTAs)
  2. Have the CTA point to a plain simple page, e.g. something that just says “Thank you for subscribing”
  3. Place CTA in email
  4. Use a contact-based workflow to enroll contacts who click the CTA, then update their communication subscriptions

Without workflows, you would simply create a landing page with a subscription form. The CTA would not subscribe them directly, they would have to submit the form.
