I waould like to add an attachment to a contact, but also push that attachment to its respective deal at the same time. Is this possible.

Not to my knowledge, no, this is not possible. Attachments don’t behave like activities that can be associated to multiple records. Attachments are in that sense exclusive to their record they’re uploaded to.
Unless you’re open to uploading a file within a note (which would allow you to associate the note to more records), this is not possible, unfortunately.

If the deal is created, you can simply click the note icon from the deal. In the pop up window you will then click the paperclip icon to add your attchment. In the lower right corner of the note box you will see the associate with dropdown. Be sure to select the contact you would like to associate the note/attachment with. This should get the trick done if I’m not mistaken.
