ADA Compliance

We are currently working on a rebrand with our company and we may be building our new website with HubSpot. I see there is an SEO crawl feature, but is there anything that would keep us ADA compliant for the website? Not only during the initial build, but a feature that would alert us if there would be a change needed to keep us compliant if there would be any changes needed? Or does anyone have suggestions of a great plugin that would work with HubSpot that would satisfy this need?

Hi @ToreyG and welcome to the Community! Longtime HubSpot user myself, and I think it’s great you’re thinking about ADA compliance.

So first, HubSpot does provide some tools to help with accessibility. But it’s not a comprehensive solution for ensuring full ADA compliance. Like there’s not an alert as you described.

Here’s what I’d think about in bulding as you’ve asked. Take advantage of the built-in HubSpot features like SEO recommendations (which can indirectly improve accessibility), the ability to add alt text to images, andsSupport for semantic HTML elements in templates.

Then I’d expand into looking at third-party solutions because these features alone are not sufficient to guarantee ADA compliance.

In some light research, a lot of other user building onHubSpot opt for third-party accessibility solutions. Here are two I found.

  • accessiBe: This AI-powered tool automatically scans and corrects many accessibility issues on your site5. It can be integrated with HubSpot websites and provides ongoing monitoring.
  • UserWay: Another popular option that offers an accessibility overlay and automated fixes for common issues1.

From there it’s a matter of some basics on best practices for accessibility. Things like looking for HubSpot templates that mention accessibility or WCAG compliance in their descriptions and conducting regular audits using tools like WAVE, axe, or Lighthouse.

Hopefully that helps!

Thanks so much, Dan! We currently use a third-party for our website, but the cost associated with it didn’t seem like it would make sense to continue that service on top of what HubSpot offers! I will look into those other options and see what their pricing models are and see if they are a good fit! I appreciate the feedback and help!
