Access timeline API from server to server

I’d like to create a custom entry in the timeline of a contact. The event is something generated by our systems when a user performs an action on our website: we want that action to be shown in hi contact’s timeline. Reading the API documentation it appears that I have to use the OAuth2 flow to create such events but I’d like to create the event from a server to server communication. For me there’s no concept of “an user granting permission to my app”. Simply we know the event, we know the contact and we want that event to appear to that contacts’ timeline. Is this possible?

Welcome, @fabrizio.

To clarify, do you wish to place timeline events on contact records in your own production account?

If so, this is certainly possible, but you will still have to go through the OAuth flow once internally. Instead of one of your visitors or customers connecting your app to their production environment, either you or another colleague will grant access to your own account.

Your organization can then use the app to serve as an intermediary between your server and your production account to create timeline events.
