Acces to client Private Apps

Our client has a Hubspot account. We, as developers, need to create a Private App on the client account. The client has given us permissions to access his account, but we cannot access the Private App page (it says we do not have permissions).

The client doesn’t want us to access his account. So we are stuck. Is there any way to access the Private App page through our account?

Hi, @latevaweb :waving_hand: Thanks for reaching out. To confirm, creating Private app keys must be done in-app and requires Super Admin permissions.

From the documentation:

Please note: You must be a super admin to access private apps in your HubSpot account.

In this case, there is not a workaround available or secondary option. Your client will either need to create the Private App, have another Super Admin do it, or create a User for you with that permission, so you can create needed keys.

I understand this is not the answer you are looking for, and I would rather not keep you searching for an option that doesn’t exist.

Best,

Jaycee

Jaycee,

Does HubSpot plan on segmenting out access to Private Apps? I don’t think it’s ideal for HubSpot to require that we give out Super Admin access to everyone who might need to integrate apps within our account. From a security perspective that’s a concern.

I agree - huge security concern yet much needed access.

Hi @Jaycee_Lewis

Do you have any updates on kevinamezaga request regarding - “segmenting out access to Private Apps”?

Hey, @OleksandrF :waving_hand: In this case there is not a workaround available. From the Private Apps documentation, “You must be a super admin to access private apps in your HubSpot account.” The admins will have to work with the developers to find an alternative way to securely share the auth key or update the scopes on-behalf of the devs. I understand this may be inconvenient, and I never want to waste your time dancing around a concern.

Best,

Jaycee
