Microsoft Visual Studio Code Extension for Local CMS Development

Since the launch of the CMS CLI, many developers have made the move to local development. However, there are some CMS Hub specific intricacies that make the local development experience awkward. For example, HubL, our proprietary templating language does not correctly highlight in local text editors, making it hard to read.

To improve the efficiency of CMS developers using the CMS local development tooling, we're launching an extension for the most popular code editor for web developers today -- Microsoft Visual Studio Code.

Having developers use this extension allows us to solve simple issues, and also provides other niceties like HubL block indentation, auto-complete snippets for HubL tags, functions, filters, and more.

How does it work?

Developers who use Microsoft Visual Studio Code can download the HubSpot VS Code Extension from the Marketplace, which gives developers numerous helpful features for developing websites on CMS Hub locally. This includes HubL syntax highlighting in HTML, CSS and JavaScript files, HubL auto-complete snippets, and more.

Who Gets It?

The HubSpot Visual Studio Code Extension is now available for all HubSpot Developers.
