A Step by Step guide to Resubscription emails

If you are a Marketing Hub, Professional, Enterprise or Legacy Marketing Hub Basic customer, the resubscription email is a great tool to help make the re-opt-in process smoother for your customers..

Before we get started, do note that a Resubscription email can only be sent to customers who have opted out of all emails, who have explicitly requested to re-opt in to receive your Marketing emails moving forward.

If you are not sure if your customer has opted out of all emails, you can follow these steps to ensure the resubscription email can be sent to your customer:

Go to the contact record  > Click View all properties > Search for "Unsubscribe from all email". If the value is "true", this customer has opted out of all emails and can be sent a resubscription email to opt back in.

Once confirming this, you can follow this step-by-step guide below to create and help customers trigger the resubscription email.

1. Create your Resubscription email

If you have not yet created a resubscription email, you can set it up following the steps here, if not head to step 2.

To create your Resubscription email:

  • In your HubSpot account, click the settings icon settings in the main navigation bar.
  • In the left sidebar menu, click Marketing > Email > Subscriptions

2. Triggering Resubscription email

When your customers contact you requesting to resubscribe to your emails, you can follow the steps below to help them trigger the Resubscription email to their opted-out email address:

  • Go to Marketing > Lead Capture > Forms, choose an existing form or create a new form that includes the email field
  • Share the link to this Hubspot form with the customer
  • The customer can insert their email address (matching their email address in Hubspot) in the email field
  • The following message "Looks like you've opted out of email communication. Click here to get an email and opt back in” will appear below the email field.
  • The customer can click on this message and the Resubscription email created in step:2 will be triggered to them immediately.Screenshot 2021-10-15 at 3.32.45 PM.png
  • Once clicking on the message prompt, the customer can go to their email inbox to view the Resubscription email
  • Ask them to click on the Resubscription email to re-opt back into your content and they are all set to start receiving your emails moving forward 🙂
