HubspotUTK and Contacts API

Hi! I have read through numerous posts that speak about how HubspotUTKToken cannot be associated with a contact created using contacts API.
But these were some posts which were 2-3 years earlier. I wanted to understand if currently we do have this functionality?
My use-case is : Suppose say a user browses my website anonymously, then decides to signup. So I create the contact through the contacts API(instead of using hubspot tracking code and identify call). Now I would want to associate this hubspotUTK token with this contact so that I can sync the pageViews and other tracking information that has been stored in this cookie.

Can this be made possible?

Hey @CDP2023,

The current use case that you’re describing I don’t think is possible. You have two methods to associate a hutk to a contact:

  1. Forms API (my recommendation with your use case)
  2. Visitor identification

In your use case, the Forms API is much better as you create the contact, create a form submission (useful later), and associate the hutk all in one go. Having the form submission is critical for filtering on things like “Last submission date/recent conversion date” or identifying signup/login forms to track number of logins on a particular user as well. You get a lot more benefits going that route.

Hope that helps!

@Bryantworks ! Thanks for the information. I will take a look at the Forms api. But then are you suggesting that lets say a user browser anonymously through my website, there is a hutk token associated and once when the user registers themselves through the Hubspot form, then use the hutk token, associate it will sending the data to Hubspot or how is it?

Thanks
