the new Commerce Hub is great, and so is its integration with Stripe as a payment processor. However, when using Stripe in Europe, Hubspot only surfaces a single payment method: Credit cards. All other payment methods available in Stripe are being ignored and can't be used in Commerce Hub.
In the entire EU B2B segment, the most important payment method is bank transfers via SEPA or SEPA Direct Debit (this is similar to ACH in the US).
Hubspot should surface more of Stripe's available payment methods in Commerce Hub, SEPA specifically.
Hi all - just to close out this issue, while some screenshots in our Knowledge Base may be outdated we've updated our language both in-app and in our Help & Training articles to reflect bank debit (over bank transfer). Thank you again for pointing out this important nuance!
Oh I can absolutely see the source of your confusion now! Yes, what we've enabled is Stripe's "SEPA Direct Debit" capability. I will definitely take this feedback to the team and suggest we adjust the naming for clarity.
Within our Knowledge Base, we have this documentation for available payment methods; however, we don't yet have screenshots showing the SEPA Direct Debit authorization. You can see this by creating a payment link with SEPA enabled then viewing the link and entering sample account information. I'll also take this feedback to our Knowledge Base team so they can add screenshots for this experience.
Hi @Sascha_Retactic happy to chat more about this directly if you'd like (please send me a direct message if so and we can discuss over email), but the reason I marked this as delivered is that our processing partner Stripe refers to the capability as direct debit, please see here. This name should match what you would see in the Stripe Dashboard.
If you would also like to see SEPA Bank Transfers added - which I believe is the name Stripe uses for customer-initiated transfers - could I ask that you please open a new idea for that? Currently, Stripe does not offer support for platforms (like HubSpot) to allow Bank Transfers but if that changes in the future we would be happy to evaluate adding support for it!
It has just been announced that the SEPA payments options are now available in Europe. Looking into my portal I can now see the option to select SEPA bank transfer.
I believe there will be a few other options being released this quarter such as Direct Debit but that is yet to be confirmed.
@jperro that is incorrect. While you have delivered SEPA payments, you have not delivered SEPA Direct Debit payments. While both sound similar due to the shared "SEPA" name, they are both very different things. SEPA payments are simple wire transfers initiated by a customer (similar to ACH in the US). SEPA Direct Debit are wire transfers initiated by the other side (the company that is owed). It's basically reverse-ACH.

Hi @jperro just to avoid confusion: So what you put as "SEPA (Bank Transfer)" in the settings:
...is actually Stripe's "SEPA Direct Debit" feature?
If that's the case, that would be perfect - and you guys should update the wording in the settings page, because the current wording means something entirely different.
Also, where is the documentation for this on Hubspot's end? Customers signing up for direct debit need to provide bank details and approve future payments. I would like to see that documented.

I've been down that road before, and let me tell you, it can be a real headache.I remember a similar situation when I was trying to set up payments for a project in Europe. It seemed like no matter what I did, I couldn't get HubSpot to recognize anything beyond credit cards. It was frustrating, especially knowing how important bank transfers via SEPA are in the EU B2B segment. But hey, amidst my search for a solution, I stumbled upon the idea of international payments. They often offer a wider range of payment methods and could potentially fill in the gaps left by HubSpot and Stripe.
