Need to be able to clone an individual deal. This is helpful for recurring revenue organizations and building MRR. Please!
Update from @JoeMayall: Due to a technical error on HubSpot’s end, this thread has an inflated upvote count. As of June 10th, 2020, we estimate this thread has around 500 upvotes. I'll continue to update this count as the thread receives upvotes."
yes! much needed. cloning a deal is a basic functionality that is lacking in Hubspot. It's supported natively out of the box with Salesforce. Not sure why Hubspot hasn't been able to add this functionality yet.
Still so, so frustrating. Love many things about Hubspot but this is very, very frustrating for our renewals process, especially considering the annual pricetag.
I would appreciate an outreach from a Hubspot CS Rep in the coming days/weeks as this is horribly limiting our ability to scale, and we would rather something out of the box than have to pay more $$ for a custom solution, or run the risk of buggering up our instance up with a less than perfect workflow. I couldn't say it better ! We have the exact same problem regarding our customers' renewals (around 200 / year) and despite all the other good features, it's an important loss of time. Of course, it should be included as a basis (like the other CRM of the market) we shouldn't have to pay more for (nor as an option nor as a devlopment).
@CHeitz I am 100% with you. With that said, I have about 100-200 renewals every month. Copying existing deals individually would be very laborious and time-consuming from within HBS.
What I would do in your situation is:
1. Create a report that contains the existing deals that need to be copied.
2. Export that report to Excel.
3. Make the necessary modifications to the Excel file to update it for the new year.
* You can use Search and Replace in the file to change certain pieces of data throughout a file.
* I use this code in my Deal Name field so that it automatically updates the Deal Number in the Deal Name upon import: Quote %DEAL_RECORD_NUMBER%
* For full disclosure, my sys admin guy also set up an automated tool that based on certain criteria, the tool will update the file for certain conditions en-mass so I don't have to manually make all of the changes.
* If I was copying each deal individually within HBS, I would have to make those changes manually.
4. Import the deal under the Contacts Tab
You should be good to go.

Thank you Evans, I'll keep your advice in mind but to be honest it's still much more complicated and time-consuming than a simple "duplicate" button
As example, I use the deal duplicator app (the manual way) to do the job and it's quite efficient but as it's a paying solution, my team can't enjoy it 😞
@CHeitz I too use the free version of the paid deal duplicator. It works OK for what I need it to do. My management would not pay for a paid version. The price of HBS is already high enough to be nickeled and dimed on key functionality. Unfortunately, it sounds like HBS has decided that since there is a Deal Duplicator App out there, they don't need to provide a built-in one. So wrong! 😞
So many things in HubSpot can be cloned. The process is retain 90% of the data, but assigning a new record/object ID. We can see a simple form of this when cloning a marketing email, lead form, or workflow. A copy of the object is made with a new object ID.
The OP did not ask to clone a contact or company that might have a unqiue identifier (email or website domain respectively), they have ask for a deal record to be cloned which it's only uniqueness is an object or record ID similar to a marketing email, form, workflow, etc. Almost 2k customers are asking for this. That alone should fast track this, but there is also a significant business reason to do this to reduce the number of copy and paste workflows as well (if custom recurring deal property is set to yes, enroll deal in workflow based on schedule, create a new deal record, copy data from deal 1 to deal 2).
Seems like an awful lot of resources to waste when the steps could be: mouse hover existing deal, click clone which copies all data that "can be" from the existing deal and require certain properties to be filled out like close date prior to saving.
Very hard to accept that HS does not understand deal cloning or copying to be a requirement. It is a glaring omission in the functionality that results in a great deal of additional work where they have repeat business or project that get broken into a number of stages.
Hi community! @Courtneyymn There is a solution - CloneNer app that you can find at HubSpot marketplacr and install easily. This app allows you to effortlessly clone various HubSpot objects, regardless of the complexity, including Tickets, Contacts, Companies and Deals. You can try it for free.
I first commented on Oct 11th, 2023. I still need this functionality. I just manually created a long list of opportunities that are renewals for next year.
This is still badly needed as a native function in HubSpot, both as an option to select within a deal as well as to make deals recurring on a regular basis (which is how our entire business is structured)
please, please, pease! I spend hours of my time copying deals and cloning articles. It is so time-consuming and error-prone. I find it unbelievable that such a basic functionality cannot be provided! The apps available as workarounds are not GDPR compliant in Europe and therefore cannot be used. This is very disappointing!
I just tried to do this a few minutes ago and was surprised to learn that it was not already a feature.
We closed a small deal this week on the way to a larger deal that we exect to close next month so we needed all of the same contacts & activity history to be associated with the new mini deal that we closed.
It would have been much nicer to clone the larger deal and rename it rather than having to manually copy & past things over.
Agreed, why wouldnt this be available? Why duplicate our sales managers work over and over again rather than just clone one? With as much information we require to be in place for a deal to be created, cloning is the only option that would negat that problem and causing our managers to save a lot of their overall time, which needs to used to bring in more sales, not data entry over and over again. To be honest, this should be an upfront and advertised feature, even the smaller CRMs I have used and built have always had a cloning feature....again why wouldnt this be offered...?!!!
