Cloning a Deal

Need to be able to clone an individual deal. This is helpful for recurring revenue organizations and building MRR. Please! Smiley Happy

Any word on this Hubspot? I'm sitting down right now to get software renewals into my next year's pipeline and looking at 3-4 hrs of work version 20 minutes. Please make this a priority.

Not sure if anybody from HubSpot monitors this forum anyway. I have been following this topic closely for some time now. The requested feature of being able to copy/clone a Deal was raised in 2017, and have been actively and repeatedly promoted by users ever since. HubSpot has published several blog articles on how important it is to listen to your customers, but seem to ignore this important principle when it comes to their own customers.

Hi, I need the Clone a Deal function INSIDE of Hubspot and no separate app. My company is not interested in sharing any Deal-data with 3rd party. PLEASE PLEASE produce this function! It really hinders adoption rates!

Thank you all for commenting.  we've been waiting for a year on this basic feature.

I want to tack on to this. Duplicating a deal seems like it would be an essential feature. As others have stated, I have repeat clients that I do not want to draft up an entirely new deal for every time they renew or add on projects.

We have renewal deals every year, and all I would need to do it clone the job, change the title for the new year and then the amount.  Now with the way it is set up I have to literally create a whole new deal from scratch for each deal 2 -3 times.  A HUGE time waster!! Please add the ability to clone / copy deals ASAP. There are less expensive tools in the market that have this feature. The whole team are wasting time with this.

and PLEASE include when you clone a deal that it Clones the "Line Items".

Thank you!

Hi! Usually, many users find the need to use a third-party app to automate the process of copying deals in HubSpot. One convenient option is to use the CloneNer app. It provides an efficient way to save time by automating deal duplication.

CloneNer not only simplifies manual deal duplication but also allows the creation of automated rules for this process. For instance, you can set a condition to automatically copy a deal from one pipeline to another under specific conditions. This significantly saves time.

Any update on adding cloning/duplicating deals to core Hubspot CRM functionality? I'm getting read to enter more license renewals into the 2024 pipeline and annoyed that I still have to manually enter all of the deal duplication details manually.

I have also upvoted this idea. If I'm trying to do a single deal to copy... I use the third party Deal Duplicator for free. It has been mentioned here many times.

However, if you have a lot of deals to copy... this is what I do:

1.  Create a Report in Hubspot of the Deals you need to renew based on certain filters.

-  Export the Report to Excel with all of the fields that your new deal will need to have.

-  If you are pulling data from a separate system, this also works.

2.  Modify the spreadsheet with all of the updated information... new close date, version, etc.

- This file will need to have a key Contact field in it... such as the Contact Record Number or Email address (which the Report can have included).

- Use Search and Replace in Excel to update the information to the extent you can.

3.  Import the updated file via Contacts > Import > and create NEW Deals.

I can easily import and create 100 - 1000 deals at a time. I then can send out emails enmass via a sequence as well.

I don't think the ability to copy a deal would work for the number of renewals that I have to deal with each month.

There’s actually a way to duplicate the deals using workflows. It takes a
bit of work but it’s worth doing. Contact your rep to walk you through it.
I did it for mine and it’s been working well for us now.

Just adding my voice to this one in the affirmative.

If Zoho can do it with the click of a button, surely you can. Sounds like HS put it in the 'can't be arsed' basket to me.

(I notice that this issue was first raised in 2017 - 6 years to do nothing, nice one HubSpot).

Happy New Year,

Any update on this, please? It's been nearly a year since the update that it's in planning

Hey HubSpot Community,
Here to share an un-fun update. We explored Cloning Deals in the second half of 2023 but are not ready to execute yet. Projects like this seem easy on the surface, but both technical and customer experience implications really matter. We're committed to providing the best experience, and sometimes that means taking extra time to do so. I know this is still a pressing need, and plan to make strides this year. In the meantime, as folks on this thread have mentioned, either using a workflow or an app like Deal Duplicator are your, admittedly not perfect, best options.

Maggie B's recent 'un-fun' update is more like an 'embarrasing' Hubspot update as this functionality is out of the box with every other CRM solution there is.  They're excuse of 'technical and customer experience' doesn't cut it.   So now this requests sits in the 'not currently planned' status where it will sit.

SHAME ON YOU HUBSPOT!!!!!!

Thanks for the update, @MaggieB! It's good to know that this functionality is on HubSpot's radar for 2024.

@SusanH Always good to remember there are human beings behind these usernames. I assume that Maggie is not HubSpot's Chief Product Officer; even if that were the case, I can't imagine your note would have moved the needle here.
