Add fields in contacts

I would like to have an option to add a field of "status", so that when I am in a company record, and on the right hand side are the contacts, i would be able to see under the contact: name, email, phone, company, and STATUS (as a drop down or fill in), because I have contacts that leave all of the time and I still want them visible but want to mark them as inactive so I know they worked at the facility and I can reference them during a phone idae.PNG
