Importing Contacts and instantly associating with their respective company

SOLVE

I'm sure someone has run into this problem before. I have looked around for solutions, but nothing seems to address exactly what my problem is. If someone can link me to a resource that does solve this, that would be great.

Currently, I have imported a list of companies. Each company has, most importantly, its company name, address, and url.

I am now trying to import a list of contacts. Every contact is associated with one of these companies. In the contact CSV I have a company column (every contact has), an email column (which some contacts have), and a company url column (which every contact has).

With this information, how do I associate every contact imported with their respective company?

Thank you in advance!

hey @PatOfCle automatically HubSpot will associate any contacts with an email domain that matches a company domain to each other.

You can also improt multiple objects in your contact import. If you use the "company url" as a company import, it will de-duplicate this against any existing companys with that url. If it's on the same line as the contact information it will associate that contact to that company too!

More info here

I'd recomend having a read of the docs Kristen has linked too as they have much more in-dept information!

Awesome, thank you guys for the solutions. I ended up deleting the existing contacts and re-importing both contacts and companies jointly, linked on domain, per @TomM2 and the guide's instruction.

Thank you both!

Good to hear! @PatOfCle just for future reference, if you import a contact's email address it will automatically de-duplicate the contact based on that. So there's not even a need to delete the contact records! You can simply set the import to not overwrite existing properties, or just import the company domain and email address and it'll automatically associate the records!

Hi @PatOfCle,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

It sounds like you are trying to associate contacts with companies that you have already imported into HubSpot.

I wanted to share a few resources on importing data into HubSpot:

I also wanted to invite our subject matter experts to this conversation.

Hi @SNigam@Josh@TomM2, @karstenkoehler- Do you have any advice for @PatOfCle?

Thank you!

Best,

Kristen
