Ashley Martzen

Ashley is a Texan by birth, a real estate lawyer by choice, and a tech enthusiast by passion. Those who know her best know that she loves to understand why we do things the way we do them, solve interesting problems, and make life (hers + others) easier through smart tech. She's been a commercial real estate “dirt” lawyer since 2007 at three big law firms in Dallas, Texas. In that role, she designed the workflow processes that supported large-scale portfolio acquisitions for the world’s largest private equity funds. She also led the in-house applications development team for 4+ years to overhaul the firm’s knowledge management software. After 25B+ in transactions, having trained and led a team of 30+ lawyers, Ashley decided to embrace entrepreneurship and founded her own CRE transactional law firm. Her prediction proved true – whether handling 1 property as a solo practitioner or 300 properties at a major law firm – the processes and software used in a CRE transaction were inefficient, overwhelming, and plagued by the absence of real-time communication and transparency among all key players on the deal. The CRE industry was overdue for intuitive, collaborative, deal-centric software. A year later, Ashley saw the opportunity to solve the problem by joining forces with Dottid - an innovative, PropTech startup, fueled by principle-centered momentum and venture capital. With Dottid, commercial leasing transactions are simpler, faster, cheaper, and ultimately – more enjoyable for every person involved. As the Chief Real Estate Officer for Dottid, she is – in equal parts – a CRE industry expert, a software designer, a business developer, and anything else needed to produce a great product. Her passion for efficiency and collaboration made her the perfect fit for building this innovative CRE platform. In her free time, Ashley enjoys watching stand-up comedy (Netflix + in person), drinking 2016 Bordeaux with friends, cruising around Knox Park with her chihuahua, contributing to Amazon’s bottom line, and discovering new gems (places + people) in NYC and San Fran.
