What is it: This enhancement to the the Timeline API allows integrators to extend their software into HubSpot via a modal window. When included, the integration will create a new event in HubSpot Marketing or CRM with a link, that when clicked will open a modal window (IFrame) into the partner’s software.
This new functionality allows integrators to push much more dynamic data into the contact timeline via an IFrame. This new data can be visual and interactive. The Timeline API is great for time specific events, like videos views. In the example below Wistia can now push their heatmap feature into the contact timeline for any individual who has watched your videos.
The Timeline API and this new feature can be used to send events to contacts in both the Sales and Marketing tools.
How it works for users: When users click on a contact record and feature by Integrations > Wistia HubSpot V2, they will see all the watch events that have happened for that users. You can also build lists and filter on this action. Users will now see a link, like in the example above, that when clicked on opens a modal window with more information.

How a marketer or salesperson may use this? Video has become a critical part of both sales and marketing. Salespeople can review a heat map to figure out exactly what part of a video people were interested. This could help inform a sales call. Marketers can see exactly when a viewer dropped off. Helping the understand which parts of their video are most engaging.
