Collect Contact Information Without Disabling Cookie Tracking On Your Forms

Has this ever happened to you before?

You have a form on your site collecting sign ups for an upcoming webinar. A prospect of yours fills out the form, and then decides that their colleague should also attend. Trying to be helpful, they fill out the form for them. In the process, they overwrite their own contact information in your CRM in the process.

Or maybe you're at a trade show, and you have a form set up on a laptop to collect information on the folks that stop by your booth. You're collecting their information, but you forgot to disable cookie tracking on the form. When you go back to look at form submissions, you see that you've generated one new contact, and the information on that contact has been overwritten by each subsequent submission on your form.

In the past, there was a tradeoff you had to make: disable cookie tracking on your form, or have every submission from the same browser overwrite existing information on a contact record. This wasn't ideal -- especially when web activity wasn't properly tracked for new contacts coming in to your CRM because you disable cookies on your form.

To help you maintain data accuracy, and properly generate contacts within your CRM, we've added the option to always create a new contact upon form submission. Within the forms editor on the options tab, you'll see a new option to "always create contacts for new email addresses."

This feature will be disabled by default, but when enabled any submission on your form with a new email address will create a new contact in the HubSpot CRM, and associated page views for that contact will still be tracked. This means that you don't have to worry about someone over-writing their contact record by submitting a form on the behalf of a colleague, and you can collect contact info at a trade show while still tracking page views for those contacts.

This new option within the forms editor will effectively replace the old "Disable cookie tracking" option, and is available to all HubSpot users.
