Forms in Webflow

SOLVE

Hello, I'm new to Hubspot and have a lot to learn!

Since we want to redesign our website, we are considering both Webflow and Hubspot CMS.

While it would be great to have help understanding pro and cons of going with both (since they would have to be integrated with the HS growth suite) what I'm interested to know now is if native HS forms can be easily embedded in Webflow (for example in Squarespace that is almost impossible without a workaround due to Ajax issues)?

If native HS forms cannot be easily embedded, will Webflow forms send contacts info to HS crm simply by having the tracking code installed on the website? Or do we need a more elaborate solution? Ideally, I also want to avoid using Zapier.

Follow up questions, if Webflow forms do send contact info to the HS crm just with the tracking code, will then also track views/rates or not (I think I already know the answer, but hey, no harm in asking!).

Lastly, if using Webflow forms, do I need to create a mirroring form in HS? This I found some confusing info on, so I'm very uncertain about it.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and answer and if anyone wants to weigh in on which CMS should we choose, go for it!

Thanks for your reply @MatthewShepherd 🙂

So this means that there is an easy, straightforward way to embed Hubspot forms in Webflow and rip all the benefits that go with that! That's good news!

I'm still uncertain whether to go with HS CMS (since we just got the growth suite) or go with Webflow. To your knowledge, are there any other limitations in integrating HS with Webflow? There's probably a lot I didn't think about yet!

Your help is much appreciated. Have a great week!

Hi @Laurap23

Beyond the collections issue I mentioned, I don't know of any other limitations in integrating HubSpot with Webflow.  Which CMS to go with really depends on your needs, goals, level of design and development experience, and budget. What I would say is, HubSpot CMS is designed to help you easily use your CRM data in your CMS, Webflow doesn't really offer that two-way connection. To me, Webflow is a great CMS for designers that need to easily create simple websites without much coding knowledge. HubSpot allows for both drag and drop design as well as fully coded template development, but their drag and drop functionality isn't quite as slick as Webflow's...yet.

Both Webflow and HubSpot are proprietary CMSs, so depending on the complexity of your site you will end up finding something that's tricky or not possible to do. With Webflow we had issues around dynamic collection pages and URL structure for SEO. We haven't had those issues with HubSpot CMS, but there are speed optimisations we like to do on WordPress sites that we can't do on HubSpot CMS (though HubSpot hosted sites are pretty fast as long as you are careful with scripts, image sizes etc.).

Most clients that we work with that are just starting out with HubSpot and are not sure which CMS to choose, tend to build their websites in WordPress (though that generally requires self-hosting and management, which brings its own potential issues) and then transition to HubSpot CMS once they have become more confident in using HubSpot's marketing and sales features and can see the benefits of having their CMS fully integrated with marketing, sales and service toolset.

This page provides some comparisons of HubSpot CMS versus some other leading CMSs e.g. WordPress vs. HubSpot. But unfortunately, it doesn't mention Webflow.

Hi @NadineF ,

I would recommend HS CMS as it has a powerful content editor feature and drive your marketing fast. Same with Matthew, we have some concerns with Webflow's SEO structure, despite it's a really good site builder compared to Wix, Squarespace, and others.

Our blog and landing pages have really good outcome because our code was hand coded with semantic markup, which benefits SEO rankings.

Thanks a million for the replies! It's obvious that you are very knowledgeable so I appreciate the time to share your experience with me! Since we can use HS forms in Webflow, we have decided to go with that for the time being. This decision, same as for your clients, will probably be re-evaluated a little down the road. Thank you so much and have a great weekend.

We're about to make this same choice between Webflow and HS CMS, so I'd love to hear how it's gone for you integrating the two! FYI we already use HS for marketing and sales.

Hi Laura,

We are faced with the same dilemma here: HS or Webflow CMS? Would you mind sharing your findings and/or roadblocks to help us with our decision? Thanks in advance!

Currently undergoing a complete makeover of our website (previously on Wix - moving to Webflow). We need to create forms for lead geenration and want to launch a blog (from scratch).

P.S. Comments from other community members also welcomed!

Forms in Webflow

Hi @Laurap23

I have used both Webflow and HubSpot CMS in the past and easily embedded forms on Webflow and synced Webflow forms with HubSpot (though syncing with Non-HubSpot forms can have its limitations.)

Webflow can create some really nice looking sites and is geared more towards non-technical users that need to easily create simple, good looking sites. We stopped using Webflow for a client due to to some SEO and general site structure limitations. We also needed to embed different forms into collection pages/templates (pages that dynamically populate content), and while we found a way to dynamically change the embed code for each page, it wasn't straightforward.

You can embed HubSpot forms in Webflow using their Custom Code element, create your form in HubSpot and copy the form's embed code then paste that code into your custom code element in Webflow. You now have a HubSpot form in your Webflow site and data will flow from that form directly into HubSpot.

You should install your HubSpot tracking code into all pages of your Webflow site, as that provides site analytics data for your HubSpot portal, but this alone won't pull in Non-HubSpot form data. You can use Hubspot's Non-Hubspot forms feature to pull data out of simple forms on your Non-HubSpot site, but if your form is in any way non-standard or complex this won't work as expected (See Supported forms section). Once you enable this feature it will pull data from all forms on your site, you can't selectively enable per form. As such, we always prefer to embed HubSpot forms where possible.

The method above creates a Non-HubSpot form in the portal for you once it detects the form, you don't have to create it.

Once the HubSpot tracking code is enabled and a form is submitted using either method above then the submitter's session analytics should be recorded against their contact record (provided the Non-HubSpot form feature is at least pulling in an email address.)

I hope that all helps.
