So we have deals through partners of ours that we enter, but they may in turn be trying to win the same end customer business, meaning we can have duplicate deals in the CRM, embellishing numbers. What is the best way to approach this? Should forecasting be done only through the Forecast tool and then manually adjust the amounts when these deals are identified?
@jdesbiens could a custom object help? To store the Partners opportunities? You coul have it associated to Deals, and maybe use a custom property to trigger a WF that would create a deal in the sales person pipeline?
From what I understood the sales manager responsible for those partners wanted to have the duplicate deals in there to understand what they are working on so to speak, but at the same time a way to identify them and remove the duplicate value from the forecast. So no, haven't considered a validation process at this point. Deals are being added manually by the reps for the market.
I'm thinking many businesses must be struggeling with this when it comes to non-exclusive markets and partners?
