We are without internal expertise for marketig operatiosn and lean on rev ops experience, too.
We are on Salesforce for the Sales team and leaning toward using HubSpot for marketing. If you have the same set up (Salesforce / HubSpot) - can you please share some pros + cons? Especially what the pitfalls are? I want to make sure I am planning for them.
Also, what are key indicators that marketing operations expertise is needed internally? This would really help build a case for hiring someone to manage this right.
Thanks for any experience and insights you are able to share!
If you and the team want to get a better understanding for the potential challenges, pitfalls and your hiring needs, this would be a good starting point as you'll see what you'd feel comfortable doing yourself and what not.
Best regards!

the Salesforce data structure is different from HubSpot (ie Salesforce has Leads + Contacts; HubSpot has Contacts). If set up incorrectly, this can cause issues. Here's what we recommend.
Ongoing maintenance is needed. Fields added in Salesforce & properties created in HubSpot are not automatically added in both systems. They need to be created in both platforms & added to the integration.
Average ongoing maintenance needed per week: 5-15 hours
Review duplicates in HubSpot & Salesforce and merge in both platforms
Review sync errors in HubSpot and resolve them on either the HubSpot or Salesforce side
Audit the Inclusion List to ensure records are syncing as required
Monitor reports in HubSpot and Salesforce to ensure data is lining up in both platforms
Add/update field mappings (add new picklist values from Salesforce to HubSpot, create new HubSpot Properties/Salesforce Fields)
