Guidelines on Creating a Workflows Library Use Case

by the Library's creator, @MatthewShepherd

  1. Before posting, please search the forum to see if your workflow/workaround or something similar already exists as a post. If it does, maybe you could comment on an existing post to offer an improvement or suggest the post you found as a new use case?
  2. When creating a post create a subject line that describes the purpose and/or use case of your workflow e.g. Copy company record properties to contact record properties.
  3. Use the provided labels to help convey the workflow object, workflow type, associated hub, and a broad categorisation of use case.
  4. In the post’s body content, describe your workflow by copying and pasting the suggested template below and/or feel free to record a Loom video walking through your workflow:

Suggested Post Template

PURPOSE & USE CASE
Describe the purpose of this workflow and the intended use case(s).
e.g. This workflow copies the specified company record properties, when they are updated, to matching properties on contact records. This is useful for customers that often update company record data and that need contact records to include the most up-to-date company information.

HOW IT WORKS
Explain the steps in your workflow and how it achieves its purpose.

NOTES ON CONFIGURATION
Describe here any actions, configurations, caveats, or assets associated with the workflow that are not clearly conveyed by the workflow image or descriptions above. For example, provide details on:

Enrollment criteria:
Allow Re-enrollment?:
Goals:
Settings:
Actions configuration:
Custom properties:
Associated workflows:

IMAGE
In the workflow editor, select the ‘More’ dropdown, ‘Export’ an image of the workflow, and paste this image into the body of your post. If the workflow image is poor quality or doesn’t contain the detail that you are trying to convey, consider taking manual screenshots of your workflow.

Refer to this post to see an example workflow that uses this approach.

And remember – Workflows are a powerful tool and they can get complex. If you know them inside out & they're saving you time, you are a very smart and innovative human!
