In HubSpot, the CRM includes four standard objects: contacts, companies, deals, and tickets. Each object represents a different type of relationship or process and almost every object hat its own pipeline. You can connect these objects by using associations: you can assign a contact to a company, assign a deal to a contact, etc.
If your goal is to push a contact to your deal pipeline, the 1st step is to create a Deal and associate it with the contact. You can then move the Deal to different stages of your sales pipeline. If you have access to the workflows tool, this can be done automatically, by triggering deal creation when a contact, or another object, meets certain conditions.
We recommend creating Deals for viable sales opportunities: if you are, however, working with contacs where it's still unclear if there'll be a sales opportunity or not, I would recommend using the contact property Lifecycle stage to categorize them based on where they are in your marketing and sales processes.
