Vendor Contacts

SOLVE

I want to create a property type for contacts / companies to be listed as vendors.

Is it possible to create a property that is applicable to both contacts and companies? Or would I need to create two separeate custom properties?

Hi @GenMan,

On the Starter tier, no - you would have to create one property on each object (contact and company).

In Professional and Enterprise subscriptions, sync properties could be used: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-sync-properties

Hi @GenMan

In HubSpot, properties are tied to specific objects, so a single “vendor” property can’t span both contacts and companies. You’ll need to create one custom property for each object type. Each can share the same internal name and field options for consistency.

On higher tiers (Professional and Enterprise), you could sync them automatically using sync properties so both stay aligned (https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-sync-properties )

If you only have Starter, you’ll just need to update both manually or through workflows. It’s a small setup step but keeps reporting clear since HubSpot treats company and contact properties separately.

Hope this helps.
