Unsubscribes- Workflow

SOLVE

We have made the internal descision to move a contact to a non-marketing contact upon an unsubscribe from any of our mailing lists.

We don't want to risk our email health, and account status.

I can easily build a workflow to do this with a custom list upon unsubscribe, however.. the trigger/property change filter is worded "Contact has opted out of all of:" problem is if they unsubscribe from just 1 of our mailing lists then they don't show up on the active list because they still have active subscriptions.

Curious how to get arround this so that any unsubscribe shows up on our active list.

Just to confirm, marketing contact status does not have anything to do with email health. It's purely a billing feature: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/marketing-contacts

Also keep in mind that HubSpot automatically excludes unsubscribed contacts from email sends, either if they unsubscribed from all email or an individual subscription type.

Still, it makes sense to mark unsubscribed contacts as non-marketing contacts, yes, along with other contacts: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/Tips-Tricks-Best-Practices/Set-contacts-as-marketing-and-non-market...

Generally, it would make sense to only set contacts as non-marketing contacts if they unsubscribed from all emails, not just one subscription type. To achieve this, simply enroll contacts in your workflow based on 'When filter criteria is met' > 'Contact properties' > 'Unsubscribed from all email is True'. Do not use the 'When an event occurs' enrollment option as this will not include unsubscribes from before turning the workflow on.

Best regards!

Sorry I maybe should of been more clear.

We have decided that when a customer unsubscribes from 1 subscription, that we will stop sending them all emails regardless of subscription. Thus having any unsubscribes show up in a list would be nice.

Unfortunately it does not seem possible though, so i have simply built OR statements into the active list filter for each subscription type.

@Keegan4123 correct, the alternative is filtering for "Opted out of [...]" or "Opted out of [...]" or and so on, using OR statements.

Keep in mind however that, for example, when you have a marketing subscription and a blog subscription, and someone unsubscribes from the blog, you're taking away the ability for them to still receive emails under the marketing subscription by removing their marketing contact status.

Have a great day!
