Should you use dark patterns in your marketing?

It is often said that using dark patterns and aggressive persuasion in web design is not morally right. But what if we only look at it from a business perspective?

Most of us have encountered dark patterns without even realizing it. These user interface elements have been designed explicitly to trick people into doing things they wouldn’t intentionally do, like adding insurance to an order or signing up for a monthly subscription.

Designing anything to "trick people into doing things they wouldn’t intentionally do" isn't anywhere near the inbound philopsophy. That's not marketing, that's just icky. So no, I'd say no one in marketing or sales should be following this practice.
