Reimagining CRM records – show us your customization superpowers!
Our Community is home to exceptional humans who also happen to be very skilled at using HubSpot! 🙂 They not only know the software inside out but also often find imaginative and innovative ways to configure it to fit their business needs.
HubSpot is more powerful, connected, and customizable than ever. With this in mind, we have decided to launch a new series of Community initiatives where we are looking for HubSpot innovators! We want to see how you have configured HubSpot, made it your own, and how this has improved your business processes or saved you valuable time.
For our first challenge, let’s focus on the middle column of CRM records!
The ability to customize a record's default middle column view is a feature we added in October 2023. It includes changing the order of tabs, renaming the Overview tab, and managing cards on the Overview tab of CRM objects.
Now it’s your time to shine! Share with us your customized middle column!
We're excited to see examples from any object record, such as contacts, companies, deals, or tickets. Let us know in the comments how you've optimized your records to meet your unique requirements.
Which cards have you added?
What specific challenges or pain points did you aim to address by customizing the middle column, and how has this contributed to overcoming these challenges or improved your overall workflow?
Optional: If you have any ideas on how we can make this feature even more valuable, please let us know. We will share your feedback with the product team.
Screenshots are welcome, but please blur or hide any sensitive or personally identifiable information before sharing.
Please be advised that these are user-generated use cases and may not follow HubSpot best practices or guidelines - use your own discretion.
Please also upvote your favorite examples and customizations!
We will share a few highlights in a separate post on February 13 and personally reach out to Community members who received the most upvotes, with a small gesture of gratitude 🙂
Reimagining CRM records – show us your customization superpowers!
Hello eveyone...took me forever to find this post again 😅
I think this is my new favorite tool after reports....
so my favorite uses are:
For companies:
- Total anual revenue in a report 📈 : this is a quick view of the amount of $ this client represents in a year
- Unpaid invoices 🚨 > this is a great warning to see which client is owing you money
- Associated companies (for economic groups and their child companies)
- Associated contact with labels by buying role > Identify the decision makers at a glance specially when you have a lot of contacts associated to a company.
I'll come back with more for the other objects 🙂

This is a *really* simple one and not all that exciting, but we have a customer where we built a Custom Object that contains their products: second hand forklifts. Since they're unique, we don't use Products for them.
A big part of the product are the images, which gives salesreps context. So we have those in separate record properties. We then just used a simple Image component to surface them on the record, to make the whole thing a bit more useful and visual 🙂
Some extra things that we'd like to add is make them clickable to enlarge and things like that. Or maybe show the cover photo larger than the other ones, etc.

Oh this looks great @Bob2245! It's definitely easier to find important information on the record with the help of images. I'm sure the sales reps love this, brilliant idea! ⭐
We would love it if you could share with us your customized middle column magic! Whether you're working with contacts, companies, deals, or tickets – we're eager to see how you've fine-tuned your records to meet your unique requirements.

Thanks for the invite @PamCotton, I've seen quite a few incredible customizations using CRM cards and there truly are unlimited use cases.
One of my favorite CRM cards that you can use out of the box (without code or a developer) is the Stage Tracker:
This is a visual representation of the individual deal's progression, where you can include forecasting info and next steps to keep the deal moving through the pipeline.
One of the biggest advantages with CRM cards is bringing data into HubSpot from other sources - or potentially storing data you couldn't store in HubSpot before (like PII or HIPPA data).
Here's an example of a CRM card that can securely store personal identifiable information (PII):
Once stored, it will obfuscate the data and you're able to reveal it when needed.
Another way you can use CRM cards is to bring reporting down to the contact level, for example to visualize website visits for an individual contact (or company).
Looking forward to seeing other ways Champions are using CRM Cards and how it evolves moving forward, we're all just scratching the surface right now!

What great examples, thank you @Jnix284! I really appreciate you taking the time to post these! 💛
The CRM card /vault that lets you securely store sensitive information blew my mind, I didn't even know this is possible, brilliant!! 😲
How does this work once the information is stored? Does the card require a password to reveal the information? Or maybe only users with special permissions can access it?
For the PII vault, there is a button that would allow you to reveal the sensitive data.
It could require a password or special permissions depending on the client use case, but primarily it is obfuscated so the info can't be visible unless you intentionally reveal it (think about an open office workspace with lots of people buzzing around, you wouldn't want it to be visible all the time when the record is open, only when you need to access it).
