Re-importing contacts and companies using record ID (with enhanced data)

SOLVE

Our Global CRM system is not integrated with HubSpot, I've downloaded all contacts exporting everyone with an 'Email' Or 'First name' populated. We've completed an extensive matching exercise externally and have managed to merge with our CRM data.

I want to re-import, using record ID to enable me to add key CRM fields to our HubSpot data. The import says I need to split Company and Contacts, all I have is a list of Record ID's. Can I update records with extra data fields via a mass import using record ID? Assuming I can, do companies and contacts need splitting out or can I use Record ID as the matching key and update from there?

Hi @MEyre,

That's a bit unusual – unfortunately, you would have to clean up your file to have one column for contact IDs, one column for company IDs.

Each row should have the contact information, contact ID, company information, company ID.

I know that's not a fun task but in the current form, HubSpot can't understand the data.

Hi @MEyre,

Yes, generally you should be able to import contacts and companies including record IDs of both objects:

Can you specify what exactly you're seeing here, maybe share a screenshot?

I have a single CSV with Record ID's which are a mix of contacts and companies (I donwloaded all contacts so assume these ID's are a mix).

At the point of import (you've shown above) I have to pick how to import either 'record ID companies' or 'Record ID contacts' this is th eissue as mine are Record ID's which are a mix of companies and contacts
