QR Codes and Hubspot Tracking URLs for Places without Hubspot Tracking Code
SOLVE
Has anyone tried to tie a QR Code to a Hubspot Tracking URL?
Let's say I have a video on YouTube and I want to track how many people came to the video from a physical mailing. The person gets the flyer and scans the QR code. Eventually, I want them to go to the YouTube page, but first I want to track the use of the QR code. Would you create a redirect off one of your www pages that includes the tracking code.
Person Scans QR
Takes them to tracking URL on www site
www site then redirects them to the youtube page
Later the Tracking URL is associated with the campaign so we can see how many people used the QR code as part of the campaign.
Is this the right way to think through this or is there a better way?
Correct. HubSpot only tracks URLs that have the tracking code installed, so yes, a redirect would be needed from a URL with the tracking code to the YouTube video. The first URL (of the page with the tracking code) is pasted into a QR code generator. You can then share this QR code.
Hope this helps!

QR Codes and Hubspot Tracking URLs for Places without Hubspot Tracking Code
SOLVE
Hey HubSpot Community! I am facing tracking issues with a QR code leading to a Linked In Profile.
Let me describe the consideration briefly: We would like to measure the engagement on the Linked In Profile from on of our Sales Reps.
In order to do so, I created a Tracking URL navigating to the Profil. In addition, I created a respective QR Code as another feature to measure the traffic. However, everytime I or someone else scanned the QR code, nothing happend.
I read in another forum that this UTM has to be defined as Organic Social - which I did.
Another thing is how it relates to a campaign that I created. Regardless that no traffic could have been created, I cannot see how the URL Tracking belongs to the Campaign as there is no such asset to selet the URL Tracking. I know that I can create a tracking URL in the interface of the campaign but I does not show me the URL in the campaign itself.
In short, I would love to get your support to get this intersection of the QR Code from a LinkedIn Profile to my HubSpot URL Traking going - does somebody have a solution=
Correct. HubSpot only tracks URLs that have the tracking code installed, so yes, a redirect would be needed from a URL with the tracking code to the YouTube video. The first URL (of the page with the tracking code) is pasted into a QR code generator. You can then share this QR code.

Are you sure this is still the case? I am looking to do the exact same thing (track clicks to a YouTube video through direct mail) and my instinct was to do the same thing as you've mentioned, create a HubSpot Tracking URL. But as I was creating it, I noticed this note in the URL textbox "Enter a URL for a page that has the HubSpot tracking code installed."
We are testing it with a link directly to the YouTube video, but wanted to check in with some experts 🙂
Tt should be possible to create a tracking url that goes to a page, and then have this page automatically redirect to the video, or even potentially embed the video on to this page. But if you're thinking about the best way of achieving tracking to it you will firstly want to create the tracking url for the page

I think I figured it out. You create a tracking url that points to yourdomain.hubspot.com. You then take that url and use the redirect url feature of Hubspot to easily point it where you want and track at the same time. Works great.
