I am getting started with HubSpot. I'd love to setup a new active list with contacts signed up through a simple newsletter box. I'd love to implement the following flow:
-> User submits their email on our website which will be saved as a contact in HubSpot
-> User receives a confirmation email with a link that redirects to a HubSpot posted Landing Page for the User for fill their first name, last name, company name and website.
-> Once submitted the existing records will be updated and user is considered as double opt in
The newsletter email input will be hosted on our website and send via an API call to HubSpot (we're currently implementing that part using standalone form). The confirmation page with form should be hosted in HubSpot.
Has anyone done that before and any advice especially on how to integrate the follow up form flow in HubSpot?
If the contact uses the same email address in both forms, HubSpot will automatically update the contact record in the background. The only thing you'd have to make sure is that the follow-up email after the first form submission contains the link to the landing page that has the second form. That's it. There really isn't anything more to this.
If you're using your definition and only consider contacts as confirmed once they submit the second form, the confirmation rate is going to be lower than what it could be. Most legal teams say that unconfirmed contacts should be deleted after a while which means that you're losing more contacts than you need to if you follow your proposed journey.
Hope this helps!
