Manually edit deal pipeline history

SOLVE

We are trying out HubSpot pro for sales. One thing I'd need to do is to migrate some of our history (manually since no CRM previously) for our current customers and engagements.

How can I enter these deals and manually set their stages? I've found several places which say "hub spot manages these and can't be edited" so I hope there is a work around. Perhaps I export everything, edit the dates and re-import?  I probably only need to do this once or every now and then if any errors are made along the way

@TSoule you can move deals through all stages, yes, either via repeat imports or using an automation, but the date information automatically captured by HubSpot regarding the entrance into each stage will be the current day – and as far as I know, it cannot be edited.

For the workflow solution, here's what you'd do:

  1. Create an assisting property, dropdown select, deal object, with values for each deal stage
  2. When importing your deals, map the deal stage column from the import file to the property from step 1
  3. Create a deal-based workflow and enroll all deals where this property from step 1 is known
  4. Add a branch in your workflow for the property from step 1
  5. Use the 'Edit record' workflow action to set the actual system deal stage property
    1. For deal stage 1, set the value to 1 directly
    2. For deal stage 2, set the value to 1, then set the value to 2
    3. For deal stage 3, set the value to 1, then to 2, then to 3

... and so on.

Again, the dates captured will all be today, unfortunately.

Manually edit deal pipeline history

Hi @TSoule,

Can you specify what exactly you mean when you say pipeline history? If you're referring to importing the previous deal stage dates of a deal, then this is not possible via the user interface / import, unfortunately.

These movements and dates are recorded automatically by HubSpot and are read-only.

Best regards

Manually edit deal pipeline history

I think you do understand my intent. It is to enter deals that have some, or all, of the stages already happened. For example Company A with Deal 1 started last year, they took 2 months to get to the next pipeline stage and 3 months to progress to the next.....

To do this I would need to edit the start date that the deal entered each stage of the pipeline. Which I gather can only be done automatically.

I haven't looked into the export/import options but it sounds like you are familiar with them. My hope was that I could set up all the deals I needed to and then progress them through each stage so there is a value for each stage. Then I would export as a csv or spreadsheet (which could be manually changed) and then re-imported.  Sounds like this also doesn't work.

Hope this isn't a dead end

Thanks, it's really the date and time spent in each stage which I would my executive team wants me to analyze. I'll have to think if adding the deal is worth the effort.

Guess I'll write another feature request.

I Appreciate your help
