Looking to learn a new skill and freelance
SOLVE
Hi guys,
I'm looking to learn a new skill and freelance. I'm currently learning copywriting and practicing a lot. I would like to also add email marketing as I'd like to specialize in email copywriting spectifically. I just want to make sure I'm learning the right things. Would you recommend doing the courses here and which one? I was thinking the email marketing course but where else can I look to sharpen my skills? The second part to my question is how soon would I be able to offer my services to businesses? I'd like to offer my email copywriting services services to coaches and bloggers. Just looking for a little direction. Thank you!
In terms of sharpening your skills, you could utilize your HubSpot account to build marketing emails and create content! Perhaps you could share them with your contacts to get their feedback as well. 🙂
UpWork offers good opportunities to build your portfolio and brand so you could start selling your services.
I would also like to invite our subject matter experts to this conversation to see if they have any tips.

Hi @techprincess343 ! That business writing course is one we built into our onboarding at @RemotishAgency so we believe it is useful! Kristen's other recommendations are helpful as well.
I would make sure to learn about some of the technical details such as email deliverability, and how content can and cannot affect it, since some clients may think the reason an email didn't get many opens or clicks was only the content. It is good to set expectations!
Your final question about when to start offering your services to businesses sounds more like a question about setting up your own business and gaining confidence.
I would recommend gaining confidence and building your business processes first with lower-cost work for a friend or colleague who understands you are learning on the job, or volunteering for a nonprofit for a short time while you gain experience in working with customers, invoicing, all the business side of freelancing in addition to the copywriting itself. Another way is to set up an email newsletter and other email marketing for your own business.
