Integration with Neverbounce or similar tool

Dear Hubspot community 🙂

I have a question regarding the best practice to use an email verification tool in HubSpot.

I would like to clean all emails that have Email Send Status = Bounced or Failed. For this purpuse I am thinking to integrate Neverbounce with HubSpot and verify emaiks via list of contacts in HubSpot.

My question is am I using the right filters to find emails that are triggering spam traps and thus worsening our spam rating?

For those that have such integration in place, what would be the best practice to clean invalid emails?

Looking forward to your tips 🙂

Hi @AZatulovsky,

Kudos to you, cleaning up your database with a verification tool is a great idea.

A short note on hard bounces in HubSpot: HubSpot stores the information about a bounce in the field Email hard bounce reason. If this field's value is known, then the damage is done already. (Verifying these contacts would only help in identifying bounces that have potentially resolved. This can be useful if you have a Marketing or CMS Hub Professional subscription and can remove bounces.)

HubSpot automatically excludes hard bounces from any email send in the future. These contacts will be dropped and appear in the Not sent section of the email.

What you generally want to do with Neverbounce is avoid these hard bounces before they happen. Neverbounce will test for you if an email would bounce – reducing the risk of your marketing email being stopped automatically by HubSpot or causing damage to email deliverability.

In other words, once you integrate Neverbounce, you would simply start by verifying lists of contacts you plan to send emails to. Until eventually all of your database is verified. Contacts which have bounced or would bounced could then be cleaned up by you. Either you delete them or find a way of correcting/updating the email address.

Keep in mind that the free marketing tools in HubSpot tend to have a higher rate of hard bounces and marked spam. This is due to the shared free email infrastructure. Upgrading to Marketing Hub Starter to connect your email domain would be a good investment along with Neverbounce, if you don't have it yet. With Marketing Hub Starter, you can connect your own email domain, giving HubSpot permission to send emails on your behalf by connecting an email sending domain for DKIM (Domain Keys Identified Mail) email authentication.

I have been using Zerobounce for a long time. This is one of the good ones. It is very difficult to say which one is the best because it depends on what you are expecting from it, such as integration, features, outcomes, flexibility, ease of use, etc. I found Zerobounce as an overall fit, especially integration with HubSpot.

Hello @karstenkoehler

I am also on the same road and planning to integrate neverbounce with hubpost to clean the list but I am unable to find any documentation on exactly how this integration works.

Will hubspot automatically push newly uploaded contacts (imports) through neverbouse and then update some property of the contact. Will this is be a manual effort to pick and clean a list from Hubspot UI itself, or is it entirely different?

Can you help me understand how this integeration will work? My goal is to make is very easy to clean our lists for our sales team.

Thank you!

Hi @karstenkoehler,

Do you know the best practices for handling the contacts who come back as Unverifiable or Unknown? I wouldn't want to segment out contacts who want to hear from us but were marked as unverifiable/accept all because they are a small business / government organization or Unknown for whatever reason.

Here are the definitions NeverBounce provides:

Hi @AZatulovsky ,

Rather than deleting the emails, I will advise you to work on emails and improve your email deliverabilty.
First thing, check if your email sending domain is connecting with HubSpot or not.
Connect your email sending domain (hubspot.com)

Below, sharing some articles where you can learn how to improve email deliverability and lower down spam rate for your emails:
