There are occasions when it makes sense to create a new lead as opposed to reopening a previously disqualified one. For example, if a lead was disqualified because of bad timing, I would never reopen that. I would want that disqualified lead show up in my reporting, with the label of bad timing, otherwise it looks as if that disqualification because of bad timing has never occurred. Even if that means that the lead history is lost – activities are still accessible on the associated company or contact record.
In other words, I would consider leads as attempts, not as something that is brought back to life again and again.
