I'm currently taking the Digital Marketing Course and there is a lot of information that I'm learning. I'm looking to put that into work, but I have no idea how to start.
Should I create a random Instagram account and start posting on it consistently?
I'm really looking forward to doing digital marketing, I just don't know what or how to start with.
Kudos to you for being an active learner! Generally, if you do have the time, I'd recommend taking a few more online marketing courses to get a better understanding of what exactly you want to achieve.
Instagram marketing is of course one option. In the HubSpot certifications you'll encounter many more areas of marketing that you want might to dive into, too. Your guiding questions here can be "What is the main challenge that the companies that I'm interested in are facing right now? How can I support them with marketing?" This could of course be Instagram, depending on the industry, if it's about generating awareness. It could also be sales enablement (creating engaging success stories), lead generation (helping sales with building a pipeline), running online events or making their website more visible in search engine results.
An Instagram account is of course one way to get your feet wet but there are many more entry points and unless you're specifically interested in B2C brands and their awareness on social media, completing a few more courses might give you a more well-rounded perspective of what marketing can be. Other options could for example be starting a blog on a niche industry topic or starting a newsletter to grow a subscriber list.
Hope this helps!

I'm actually planning on taking a few more courses, but I just feel that sense of urgency to start something right now.
I definitely want to start something to test things on. As you mentioned, maybe an Instagram account, or blogging, or some marketing entry-level stuff.
I know for sure I want to be involved somewhere where I have to try and figure out customer behaviour, surveys, and testing...ext.
