So what I have used to track sales is coupon codes. When I place an ad, I give 25% off when a person uses a coupon code. The code tells me what ad they viewed to order from. For example REAL25 means the ad is placed on The REAL Chattanooga!! Facebook Group at 25% discount. See attached image. I create files on my computer to record the details.
Hubspot instead gives software to track leads via link tracking. I will use this, but my question is, should I completely disregard my previous process? Or is there an advantage to my process that link tracking may miss? Are there any disadvantages to link tracking I should know about?
So my recommendation is not only for this but in general with a Process change is Testing how it behaves in real-world use.
So for your use case, I'd say start testing out the tracking URLs BUT keep on using your coupons simultaneously ➝ once you have the data to prove that the new process is working fine and as expected then you can faze-out the use of coupons.
