Deal Tags Conditional on Specific Company Associations

I couldn't find this question asked before and I'm new to HubSpot--I'm hoping anyone might be able to point me in the right direction. 

I think I'd like to use a conditional Deal tag to solve an issue but I'm not sure if it's the best solution. My company does a lot of work in partnership with First Nation companies. It would be really useful to have these partnerships clearly visually indicated somehow.

What I'd wanted to do was add our partner organizations as Companies using Partner as the Company Type, and then create a Deal tag conditional on Deals having a Partner Company associated to that Deal. It looks like I can filter for number of assocations, but not by association with a specific group of companies such as by Type.

Is it possible to do what I was trying to do, or is there a better way entirely?

You should be able to access company property, including company type, via this dropdown when setting up deal tags:
