Hello. We are using Marketing Hub - Professional. Some contact records have an email address, others do not. What do we use as a unique identifier for marketing contacts when there is no email address? Could we use the email address as the unique ID for contact records that include email, and then key on the Record ID for those that don't? Also, if we have have an SMS campaign and only use records that have a cell phone # and no email address, do those contacts count toward our marketing contacts - contact tier? Thanks.
That depends a bit what you need the unique ID for. Generally, for the sake of consistency, it should be the same for all contacts. If not all contacts have an email, the record ID would be the best choice.
Marketing contacts refer only to marketing tools (email and ads), so you can safely mark contacts which you only want to engage through SMS as non-marketing contacts.
Best regards!
