Best Practices for Managing Subscription Upgrades and Downgrades in HubSpot
Hi HubSpot Community,
We are a SaaS company offering monthly subscriptions based on the number of tokens our customers use per month. Occasionally, our customers request to upgrade their plan for more tokens or downgrade for fewer tokens.
I'm seeking advice on the best approach to manage these subscription changes in HubSpot.
Current Approach:
For an Upgrade:
Limit the number of payments to the current number of monthly payments made.
Add a new line item with a status property called "Upgrade."
Set payments to 'renew until canceled.'
Update a property in HubSpot with 'last change on deal' and the date of the change.
For a Downgrade:
Limit the number of payments to the current number of monthly payments made.
Add a new line item with a status property called "Downgrade."
Set the new plan details accordingly.
Update the same property in HubSpot with 'last change on deal' and the date of the change.
Questions:
Would you handle upgrades and downgrades differently?
Are there more efficient methods or best practices for managing these subscription changes in HubSpot?
I'd like to also invite some of our top Experts to this discussion: Hi @GrantCarlile, @HubDoPete and @StjepanGrcic do you have other best practices to share with @TPesach3, please?
If anybody else has anything to add and/or share, please feel free to join in the conversation 🙂
