Avoid switching contacts to marketing after intentionally setting them to non-marketing

SOLVE

Hi, we are cleaning up the data we currently have in HubSpot, and also trying to increase our marketing presence. We have been creating lists using the data that we have entered and then marking these contacts that are populating the list as marketing contacts so that we can send them targeted emails relating to the specific topic. However, I am afraid that I might be changing contacts who were previously intentionally non-marketing for some reason to marketing contacts, if that makes sense. How can I avoid this? Is there a way to see a history of times when a contact was marked as non-marketing? Or even better, is there a way to sort by these out? Thank you!

Hey @alexagatiss you can check the "marketing contact status" history the same way you would any other property:
https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/view-property-history#:~:text=Click%20the%20name%20of%20a,an....

If you click into the contact record > View all properties and hover over the "marketing contact status" property then hit "details" you'll see all updates to the marketing contact status of that contact record.

There's no way to segment in bulk contacts who have been updated by a user however. One thing you could do is use the "has not been updated in the last..." list filter. If you create a list you could say something like "marketing contact status has not been updated in the last 14 days" or however long you choose. This wouldn't been definitive at all but would help you segment by contacts who have no had their marketing contact status updated recently!
