Adding Data Columns with Multiple Dropdowns to Track Product-Supplier Relationships

SOLVE

I have a question regarding the functionality for organising company data. I’m trying to set up a view where I can track products alongside the competitors from which a company is sourcing them.

Specifically, I would like to:

Column 1 to contain a list of products.

Column 2 to contain a list of competitors (i.e., suppliers or companies providing those products).

The goal is to match data in Column 1 (Products) with Column 2 (Competitors), so that I can see which competitors are providing specific products to the company.

Is it possible to set up multiple dropdowns for each column, and then create a way to connect the product from Column 1 to its corresponding competitor in Column 2

Hi @NamrathaS,

In general, it sound like these could be simple company multiple checkbox properties. Column 1 would show a list of products, column 2 would show a list of competitors providing those products.

If however you want this broken down by product (product A is provided by competitor X, product B is provided by competitor Y), then no. Company filtered views don't support additional splitting into rows like that. This couldn't be done in custom reports either.

For this to be "reportable", you would have to work with custom objects for products. Each product would be an associated record – on which you could document who is currently providing it and then also report on it in a custom report across companies + products.
